Skills for Students Entering Kindergarten

Below you will find some skills you can work on with your child during the summer to help create a smoother transition into Kindergarten!

Kindergarten Readiness Skills


The North Providence School Department will register children planning to enter Kindergarten in September 2021 starting on February 1, 2021.  Registration packets can be downloaded from the school department’s web site at and completed applications should be submitted to   Click here for informational flyerLink to editable PDF registration documents here.

Documents needed for registration include proof of residency (copy of mortgage statement/rental agreement and a copy of a major utility bill), birth certificate, and proof of immunizations: five DTP/DTaP (diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis) vaccines, four Polio vaccines, two MMR vaccines (measles, mumps, and rubella), three Hepatitis B vaccine series, two Varicella (chickenpox) vaccines or a doctor’s note indicating that your child has had chickenpox, lead screening test, and a physical exam.  The child must also have a vision screening upon entering Kindergarten. (This screening may be done during a regular health exam check-up).  Any student entering from out of the country must present evidence of a recent PPD (Mantoux test for Tuberculosis).

Children must be five years of age on or before September 1, 2021, to be eligible to enter Kindergarten.
