Parent/Guardian Information

Being part of the Greystone community also means being part of the North Providence and education community at large.

We hope you’ll tap into these helpful tools, as well as the North Providence School Department as a whole, and our partners at the Town of North Providence.

Transportation/Getting to School

Students have been notified via mail if they are eligible for the bus. If you have any questions please contact our school office at 233.1130

Durham Bus Company can be reached at 401.751.0534

In case of Early Dismissal please send you child to school with a written note about the change in routine. If a note is not sent into school please call us at the office 233.1130. We kindly ask you to call prior to 2:30 pm as the end of the day is a hectic time and we want to be sure your child is aware of the change!

NEW: The access road is for bus traffic ONLY!

Since Greystone is certainly a neighborhood school, some of our students choose to walk to school. Students who walk to school may enter school at the main entrance during inclement weather. All other days students may enter through the gate at the school play yard.

Some families choose to park in our back or front parking lots (by the football field) and walk their child to the play yard gate or main entrance-depending on the weather. That is welcomed however parents/guardians may not enter the play yard or office lobby (unless you have office business to conduct) for the safety of our students.

Parents/guardians may use our main entrance way via Morgan Avenue to “drop and go”. Traffic enters through Morgan Avenue. Travel down the the lane, stop at the main entrance to drop off your child,  and loop around flag pole to exit. We ask that your child is “backpack ready”  so our traffic pattern remains smooth!

In an effort to help with dismissal procedures and questions after the school day please note the following:

    1. Our school office secretary, Miss Brenda, is available between the hours of 8:30-3:30 to answer questions regarding transportation concerns. Please call the school directly at 233.1130
    2. If you have any questions regarding dismissal after 3:30 please call our central office at 233.1100 extension 4. If you prefer please call Durham Bus Company directly at 751.0534 with any bus concern or issue; they will be happy to help!
    3. Download the “Durham Bus Tracker App” to track the bus. You will need your child’s school ID number.
    4. It is very important that parents send a note to the child’s teacher letting them know how they will be home throughout the course of a week. Many children have multiple ways of getting home, depending on the day of the week, and this changes often throughout the day. We rely on the  classroom teacher to receive this information from parents.
    5. Bus drivers and monitors will not release any child at a bus stop if a parent is not waiting to meet them. If there is no adult to receive the child, students will be brought back to Greystone School. Greystone has an afternoon Kids Klub Program. They can be reached at 349.5700 or 626.5660. Your child will be in their care until 6 pm. Kids Klub closes at 6 pm.
    6. The North Providence Police will be contacted in the event a child is not picked up.                        It is important to keep all telephone numbers up-to-date as well as emergency contact information. You can call our main office at 233.1130 between the hours of 8:30-3:30 to do so.

Students may walk home or ride their bike with parent permission. Typcially only students in grades 4 & 5 may do so. It is dependent upon the situation.
